Building as landscape
We are pleased about the third prize of the realisation competition in Lindau (Bodensee) “Am Kreisel” according to RPW (guidelines for planning competitions).
Jury: “…this contribution forms an interesting proposition, which addresses and interprets the topic of land consumption.”
The new building at the roundabout Ludwig-Kick-Straße / Kemptener Straße is a city shaping landmark for the northern town entrance to Lindau – a building as landscape emerges.
The supermarket stretches across the full height of the base. The daylight-illuminated underground car park is customer-friendly, by facilitating connection with the sales floor on the ground floor via moving walks and escalator. On the three floors above the base are intended, a gastronomy area with roof terrace (accessible on foot via the new ramp) and variable uses above, like offices, practices or apartments (column-free spaces with central utility and installation core).
It is planned as an economically sustainable and resource-saving concept with passive solar energy gain through the use of a profiled glass façade, as well as heat generation based on a three-pillar system of energy generation by using a heat pump and deep geothermal energy.
